Let down your tap root
to the center of your soul,
suck up the sap
from the infinite source
of your unconscious
and
be evergreen

Psychotherapy through dialogue, exploration and compassion
Beneath every behavior there is a feeling. And beneath every feeling there is a need. And when we meet that need, rather than focus on the behavior, we begin to deal with the cause, not the symptom. - Ashleigh Warner

My Approach
I believe that we all have the capacity for great change and impact when we have the right supports.
I believe that we all have inner wisdom that, if we learn how to listen, can guide us through and help us emerge with understanding and clarity.
I believe that true growth requires compassion, grace, courage, and humility.

I believe that healing occurs within the sacred space of relationship: Relationship to one's self and one's story, and in relationship with others.

As a clinical psychologist, I work interactively and relationally with clients to discover who they have become throughout their lives, how they have been shaped by external and internal forces, and how to grieve and let go of what no longer serves them in order to come closer to themselves.

Services
I work individually with adults who struggle with a variety of concerns, including mood-related disorders, low self-esteem, grief and loss, substance use harm reduction, phase-of-life issues, identity questions, career stress, history of trauma, and early parenthood challenges.

Frequently Asked Questions...
What is your fee?
My fee is $200/session for new clients. I also offer a limited number of sliding-fee scale spots for clients experiencing financial hardship.
Do you accept insurance?
I am in-network with Aetna and Aetna Student Health, and I am considered an out-of-network provider for all other insurance plans. I can provide you with a receipt called a Superbill for you to submit for possible reimbursement from your insurance plan if you have out-of-network benefits.
What forms of payment do you accept?
I invoice for sessions monthly, and I receive payment through check, cash, or bank-to-bank payments such as Zelle. While I do ask for a credit card to have on file, I only charge it in the event that an invoice is outstanding for more than 60 days (including a late fee of 5%.
How long are sessions?
Our first 2-3 sessions are considered initial consultations, where I do some history gathering and we both assess if this feels like a good therapeutic fit. At the end of that consultation period, I will share my treatment plan recommendations and referrals if needed. Initial consultations are 60 minutes. Subsequent therapy sessions are 50 minutes long.
How often will we meet?
In the beginning, as we get to know each other and I learn your story, I recommend that we meet at least every week. Some people choose to meet twice/weekly. I have found that continuing on an at-least-weekly rhythm helps sustain forward momentum for change. When you feel you're at a natural slowing point, we can discuss tapering down to every-other-week, monthly, or maintenance sessions.
When and how are you available?
I provide in-person sessions in my office in Rochester, NY, and I provide online teletherapy for clients outside of the Rochester area or local clients whose schedules benefit from telehealth flexibility. I offer sessions Monday through Thursday, 10am - 5pm. Ideally we would find a regular recurring weekly time, but I try to be flexible based on different scheduling needs.
What is your cancellation policy?
I require at least 24-hours' notice of a cancellation. If you cancel within 24 hours, my late-cancellation fee is $150 (which is not covered by insurance).

Clinical Consultation
I provide clinical consultation to colleagues, early-career clinicians, and therapists-in-training who are seeking a relational psychodynamic / interpersonal psychoanalytic framework.
My Background
I am a life-long learner, and my professional approach follows this philosophy. My formal education in college and graduate school trained me in the traditional psychodynamic and cognitive-behavioral schools of thought, so my underpinnings have a strong foundation in both exploring what the unconscious has to tell us and practicing active behavioral and cognitive interventions. In NYC, I benefitted from learning from the great writers and thinkers of the modern relational psychoanalytic movement, and I consider that to still be my main orientation. And, as I have journeyed through these years, I've come to see neurobiology as a necessary partner in therapeutic work. I've adventured into the healing powers of expanded and altered states of consciousness, been transformed by motherhood, and born witness to how the global upheaval of pandemics, wars, fear and rage have impacted our collective energy. We can't do the important work of healing and change without first holding space to bring our nervous systems back into safety and regulation.
After 14 years of building a practice in Manhattan, I moved to Rochester, NY in 2020. I've maintained a thriving virtual presence with NYC-based clients alongside my work with clients in Rochester and throughout New York State.
